Foreword

Hello, my name is Dylan Horton. Being that you‘re reading this, it’s likely because you’ve heard of the novel I’ve been writing for the past several months, “The Organ Grinders”. While I hope to have it published eventually, up until now only a select few individuals have been able to read my work in progress. But I’ve decided that in the big scheme of things few if any people will read my story until I get it published, and that being said there’s no real harm in sharing it with a few more readers. Once the story is completed, this blog will vanish, and I’ll begin my search for a real publisher.

“The Organ Grinders” remains a work in progress at the moment, though it is slowly coming towards its ultimate conclusion. With 27,000 words written thus far, I have to say that I’m fairly proud of the novel I’m in the process of creating. Furthermore, I just want to thank my small pool of readers/editors/emotional supporters who’ve helped me get this far. You know who you are.

The best way for me to describe “The Organ Grinders” is to say that it is a dystopian murder mystery. Inspired by the film noir genre, I have attempted to create a story of deception and conspiracy set in a future society dominated by humanity’s instinctive urge of self-preservation. While their goals might seem simple in the beginning, the central characters all have their own motivations, some benign, some malevolent.

I will begin releasing segments of this story once a suitable number of people have subscribed to this blog; call it a minor publicity stunt on my part, but I’d like to know that a decent number of people find this interesting enough to merit its early limited release online. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed.
